Some of L.A.'s finest Eastern European folk musicians pay homage to "Kolo" John Filcich, founder of Festival Records – until its closing in 2000 one of the leading suppliers of recordings for folk dancers and ethnomusicoloists worldwide. Performers include the Yeseta Brothers Tamburica Orchestra, Tzvetanka and Ivan Varimezova, and the Gypsy Roma Band. Following the concert there will be music and dancing to celebrate John’s 80th Birthday.

Tickets are FREE, but must be ordered in advance by calling (310) 440-7300.
Tickets may be ordered beginning February 24, 2004 at 9:00 am Pacific Time.
There is a limit of four seats per reservation.
Folk Dancers are urged to call the first day and order four seats each for the Sunday performance. Couples can call twice and get eight seats. Use extra tickets to invite your folk dance friends. Plan to stay after the performance for music and dancing. The auditorium capacity is limited to 500, so call on February 24 to make your reservations.

“Sounds of L. A.” is a free weekend concert series at the Getty Center that highlights
Los Angeles’ rich musical geography. "Sounds of L.A." takes local musicians right out
of the Southern California landscape and puts them onto the Getty stage.

Note: There is also a performance Saturday March 21, 2004 at 8:00 pm, but no party.
The Getty is north of the intersection of the San Diego Fwy (I405) and the Santa Monica Fwy (I10). Take the Getty Center Drive exit from the 405 and follow the signs. Parking reservations are not needed, but plan to arrive early to allow time to park and take the shuttle from the parking lot.
