MŠTO FEELING “STRING FEVER” IN MISSISSAUGA
The Mark Špišic Tambura Orchestra (MŠTO) will make its second appearance in Mississauga in as many years on April 3, 2004 at the Living Arts Centre. The concert, entitled String Fever , will feature a 14-member tambura orchestra founded and directed by Mississauga resident, Mark Špišic. This talented and energetic ensemble boasts a diverse musical repertoire, including folk, jazz, classical and pop styles. The MŠTO instrumentalists come from various parts of North America , including Mississauga ON , Kitchener ON , Pittsburgh PA , Philadelphia PA , and Rockaway NJ .
In their 26 th year of operation, the Queen Helena Folk Ensemble of Kitchener, Ontario is proud to produce String Fever for the second time, recognizing that an ensemble of the MSTO's caliber helps perpetuate and strengthen the love for the tambura in today's youth. Mark Špišic is the current music director for Queen Helena, as well as artistic director for the Adria Folk Ensemble of Oshawa, Ontario. He has traveled to various countries to lead seminars about the tambura and tambura music, as well as performed for many diverse audiences in North America , Europe , and Asia .
The MŠTO's performance of String Fever will take place at the RBC Theatre, located in Mississauga 's Living Arts Centre. Sponsorship of the production is provided by the Croatian Credit Union.
