Hi, a few days ago I got a tambura from my parents for my birthday. I play electric guitar for some years now but I never played tambura before and I want to try I it. I did some internet research to find more about tambura but I still had some questions without answers... so maybe you guys can help me out smile.gif

this is the pic of my tambura:

these are my questions:

What kind of tambura is this? couse I saw on the internet that there a few diffrent sorts but I couldn`t figure out wich sort was mine

How do I need to tune the tambura? I mean in wich notes? standard guitar tuning is E-A-D-G-B-E... what`s the most used on tambura?

...and the last: Do you have some tips for a starting tambura player? smile.gif

That`s all... thanx! and please help out if you can

Black Bullet nice site! I too am a big fan of 70/80 metal/hard rock and of course now Tambura. Both excellent in their own ways ...and for a little strange blend, I think I remember Mr. Bungle mixing it up a bit on their album California (not necessarily Tambura but some gypsy-esque influences (along with the rest of their Zappa/metal/progressive schtick).

By the way - some nice guitar work on Tequila! Slammin' 200 proof!

Also, way to go getting a rockstar member number...

No, I don't play...yet. Maybe some day down the road. Never heard of it until I started dating my husband (100% 1st generation Croatian who grew up singing, playing and dancing - and more ;) ). It's all quite new to me (or it least it was - getting more familiar slowly). But it seems I'm a little spoiled now? There are a lot of VERY talented Tamburasi here on Tamburaland which I've been fortunate enough to hear, see, dance to(with?) ;) , sing with and party with. Hopefully someday you'll have the same opportunity. You came to the right place with your questions. Good luck!
