Fantazija by Peter Kosovec (part 6) Brac
2
Đuka report:
By now we've already marvelled at the technique required to play
this song. Now, in the brac 2 part, let's examine the arrangement.
The first thing that stood out to me about this part was the fact
that Peter chose to double the prim in some spots and then divide
into harmony a third or a sixth apart. Up until measure 89, there
really isn't any parallel harmony line. Then at measure 89, things
remain doubled with the prim until the repeat. At that point, the
harmony (a third below) begins. (Incidently, if you see that any
of the first endings are empty, it means that the first repeat is
doubling the prim) For a song as quick as this and with as many
counter melodies as it has (i.e. cimbalom/celo), too much harmony
may have been overpowering
and thick. The other point of interest of the second brac part is
the transitions from section to section. Take measures 106 and 114
for example. If you play the prim and brac part together slowly,
it is pretty hard on the ears. However, each line by itself leads
perfectly into the next note, and when played together in tempo,
you don't notice anything un-nerving. Chromatic runs are one of
many ways tamburasicreate effective transitions. I hope this helps
you a little. Until next time, sretno!
