Nadigravanje is a piece that debuted at the MSTO concert on March 1, 2003. The original concept was created by me and Kalman Magyar Jr. in 1993. We were interested in having some fun with the idea that the region of Baranja has serious Hungarian as well as Croatian roots. It was decided that we slap together some melodies from each side and create a “dueling banjos” of sorts. Instead of banjos we chose a violin and prim. A quick and impromptu recording session followed and our piece was complete. For the next 10 years the composition lay relatively dormant except for a few little excerpts in folk dances and the 1st Skitnice cd. The piece you will hear is the evolution of that original recording.

A little over half way through the piece, the berde and celo have sixteen bars of runs. These runs are typical brac and celo lines over prim solos in kolos from Eastern Croatia. I thought it would be fun to have the berde and celo in the spotlight for a change.
